Project 2025

Posted on November 3, 2024November 3, 2024 By Kimberly Grissam

We have all seen the news and heard about Project 2025 in some way in the last few months, but I wanted to write a little something about what Project 2025 would do to me and my family if this came to fruition. It honestly scares me a lot and it really bothers me that we would be going backwards. It is never good to go backwards. (I also want to add that this is just my personal opinion and that if you want concrete facts, then you should do your own research.)

Project 2025 is a 900-page policy wish list for the next Republican President. I would like to point out here that Donald Trump has said he has nothing to do with it. But I also want you to know that there’s dozens of former Trump administration officials that have contributed to the proposal.

The Heritage Foundation is the right-wing think tank that conceived Project 2025. They have been doing proposals like this since 1981, when Ronald Reagan was about to take office. They produced one in 2016 as well, when Trump won the presidency. The Heritage Foundation has boasted that the White House (Trump) had adopted nearly two-thirds of its proposals during Trump’s presidency within the first year of his term.

Project 2025 sets out four main policy aims; restore the family as the centerpiece of American life; dismantle the administrative state; defend the nation’s sovereignty and borders; and secure God-given individual rights to live freely.

Project 2025 proposes that the entire federal bureaucracy, including Department of Justice, be placed under direct presidential control, known as unitary executive theory. The FBI would be overhauled and several other federal agencies. And completely eliminating the Department of Education. It changes immigration a lot and part of that is accessing more fees and if an immigrant pays a premium, they could get their applications fast-tracked. It also sets out to end diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in schools and government departments.

Now on to my two cents, obviously this is just a small part of what is in Project 2025, its 900-pages. I would be typing out the longest blog post ever if I hit on everything. Do we need changes in our government? Yes, without a doubt but this is not the direction I want to go or the changes that I want to see. This is taking us backwards, way backwards. My rights as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community would be gone, absolutely demolished. My friends in the community that are in the process of transitioning, would be seen as criminals. My friends in the community that do drag, would be seen as criminals. I would be seen as a criminal, just because of who I chose to love. I am worried, I am scared and not sure what is going to happen and at this point, I don’t even want to guess. I am not only worried about me and my family, but I am also worried about my nieces, I am worried about young women, I am worried about the black community, I am worried about immigrants, I am worried about a lot of people, things and everything in between right now. This is the first time in my life that I have even been really worried or scared about the outcome of an election and what it could mean for me, my family, my friends, and honestly everyone. In conclusion, this is just my opinion on some of the things in Project 2025, don’t take my word for it. Do your own research and figure out what it means to you. If you have anything to add, feel free to leave any comments. Till next time, lead with love and light.

Leaving Him for Her

Posted on September 28, 2024October 14, 2024

It was summer 2016. I remember it being a beautiful day, but whether it was hot, or cooler has long been forgotten. What I do remember is the energy in the air, it was like nothing I’d ever felt before. There wasn’t a storm on the horizon and the weather…

Needed A Breather

I had to take a break from the blog for a little bit after the election and the results. I felt like I had the wind knocked out of me. On top of that, I feel like I was just shoved back in the closet. There are so many unknowns…

Not Straight – My Coming Out Story

Posted on September 29, 2024October 14, 2024

My coming OUT was nothing like I had planned or expected. Oh, some reactions were, and some were worse, but most of the people I told were very supportive. Sincerely supportive. And there is a difference. Trust me. I’m not a good reader of people and was still able to…
